Learn about CCM’s year-long Clergy Cohort

Attention Rabbis and Cantors: 

The Center for Contemporary Mussar (CCM) announces the start of our next training course for rabbis in the theory and practice of Mussar.

Our learning will include study of two historically core Mussar texts, Moshe Chayim Luzzatto’s Messilat Yesharim, and Moshe Cordavero’s Tomer Devorah, read in part through the lens of the thought of the French Jewish philosopher, Emmanuel Levinas. Using the curriculum of CCM, participants will learn to “do” Mussar for their own spiritual development and also to begin to explore different models for leading a mussar va'ad in their own communities.

The course will be taught by Rabbi Ira Stone, our Rosh Yeshiva Emeritus; Rabbi Joshua Boettiger, our Rosh Yeshiva; and Sonia Voynow, our Director of Outreach and Madrichim. 

We will meet weekly on Wednesdays from 11:30 to 1 pm (EST), beginning this October 7, 2026 and running through May 27, 2027. Each session will be split between a shiur (engaging the Mussar texts and theology) and va’ad (the laboratory for tracking – especially via the middot/precepts – how this practice is directly impacting our lives and relationships).

The recommended fee for the year is $1,000, though participants are invited to self-assess and pay what they are able to.
